In recent years, as web APIs have improved and OS support has broadened, PWAs have now emerged as the standard of choice for most B2B applications. PWAs have many benefits for our customers, such as supporting a broader range of operating systems and devices (including MacOS, Windows, ChromeOS and more), requiring less space on client devices, being always up to date, requiring less IT administration, and for infrequent users, not needing to install or keep another app on their devices for getting things done.
Usage and functionality
Instead of a native app installed via the App Store or Google Play, HYPE Boards (Viima) will continue to be available on mobile with the same functionality as before.
You can access the app directly with any modern web browser, or by installing the application as a Progressive Web App to your device.
Based on our user interviews and usage data, the vast majority of users prefer to simply use their browser since most usage on mobile devices happens through links that were shared via email or communication apps. However, for those users that would like a more convenient shortcut to the app, or customers that would like their employees to find the application more easily, a PWA is a good choice.
