Customizing submission field placeholders

Updated today

As you can use boards for a multitude of use cases, it is essential to capture submissions relevant to the context of any given board. By customizing the placeholders for ideas' titles, descriptions and comments, you can provide more accurate instructions and suggestions to guide your audience.

How to get there

If you already know your board name, the easiest way to configure the submission field placeholders is through the following URL:

https://app.viima.com/admin/organization-name/board-name/general/#settings/general/submission-fields

If you do this, proceed directly to Step 3. Otherwise, start from Step 1.

Step 1:

On your Viima Admin account, go to "Settings" in the admin portal of your board

Step 2:

Open the "Submission fields" sub-section under the "Settings" section

Step3:

Configure the text for each placeholder or the ones you want to customize and save your changes.

Your changes will be visible in the title and description placeholders of an idea's submission form, as in the screenshot below. You can also edit the comment placeholder text to incentivize more specific inputs from users engaging with existing ideas.

Notes:

To reset the placeholders to their standard value, simply delete the custom text and save the changes in the admin portal.

The standard text for each placeholder is:

  • Title: Title

  • Description: Description

  • Comments and replies: Add a comment or an attachment

The maximum length for custom placeholders is 255 characters
