Moving ideas between boards

This article details how to move ideas between boards and how to keep track of their movement

Updated over a week ago

In most cases, ideas are created and remain in the same board for their entire lifecycles. Some ideas, however, need to be moved to different boards that support different processes or involve different audiences and stakeholders.

Note that you need to be a board admin or higher to move ideas.

Moving ideas

Step 1

Open the idea you wish to move from the board of origin by clicking on it

Step 2

Click the grey "pencil icon" at the bottom lefthand side of the idea

Step 3

In the "Edit Idea" modal, click "Move to board"

Step 4

Once you have selected the target board from the dropdown menu, choose the status, category and other fields from the options in the modal

Step 5

Once you have configured all the applicable fields, click move. You will now be able to find the idea in the target board

Note you can choose to delete the idea in the board of origin when moving it. All the related data, such as likes and comments, will be permanently deleted from the board of origin. Please note that this will affect the statistics of the board, for example on the dashboard and the user leaderboards.

Idea Links

You can easily keep track of related ideas and navigate to them across boards, ensuring traceability.

To find linked ideas on other boards, follow these steps:

Step 1

Open an idea to check its linked ideas

Step 2

Click on the "More info" tab of the idea

Step 3

You will find links to other ideas under the linked ideas section. Clicking on the name of the board will open the idea in the other board

Note that you will not be able to open ideas on target boards you do not have access to.

Idea link types

These are the current link types for ideas:

  • Copied from board: Displays the board an idea has originally been copied from

    • Also considers ideas deleted in the board of origin

  • Copied to board: Displays the board(s) an idea has been copied to
