AI Use Cases Board

Updated this week

What is an AI Experimentation Board?

The AI Experimentation Board is your team’s structured workspace for exploring, testing, and scaling artificial intelligence initiatives responsibly and efficiently. It brings together ideas, data, and validation in one collaborative space — helping teams move from AI curiosity to proven business impact.

Whether you’re experimenting with predictive models, generative AI, automation, or decision-support systems, this board provides the visibility and structure needed to manage risk, share learning, and accelerate results.

When to Choose an AI Use Cases Board

Use the AI Use Cases Board when your team:

  • Wants to identify and test potential AI use cases systematically.

  • Needs to evaluate technical feasibility, data availability, and business value.

  • Aims to scale AI initiatives that have shown measurable promise.

  • Seeks to align data science, product, and business teams around shared goals.

  • Wants to document learnings and maintain transparency in experimentation outcomes.

  • Keep track of use case progress and realized ROI

This board is ideal for innovation teams, data scientists, product managers/teams, and digital transformation leads exploring how AI can drive meaningful outcomes.

When to Try Another Use Case

If your team is focused on continuous customer discovery or product validation, the Continuous Discovery Board will serve you better. For structured short-term innovation cycles such as rapid design or prototyping, use the Design Sprint.
If your work is more about project execution and delivery, the Agile Board provides the right framework.

What Does It Mean for the HYPE Board?

Access Controls

AI experimentation often involves sensitive data and proprietary insights. To maintain both collaboration and control, we’ve configured the following settings:

  • Access is restricted to listed users and approved domains.

  • Authentication is enabled via Office 365, Google, or Viima.

  • Only authenticated users can add, comment, or evaluate ideas.

Sharing Options

We’ve enabled email and Viva Engage (Yammer) sharing options to help your team:

  • Share experiment outcomes or new use case ideas.

  • Invite stakeholders to review or contribute insights.

  • Communicate learnings across departments to inspire further experimentation.

Statuses & Categories

The AI Use Cases Board follows a structured innovation flow tailored to the AI lifecycle:

  • Use Case – Capture and describe the proposed AI application. Define the problem it solves and the expected value.

  • Evaluation – Evaluate technical feasibility, data readiness and business value before committing resources to the use case

    • We created 3 evaluation metrics (scale of 1 to 5) to support decision-making at this stage:

      • Technical Feasibility

      • Data Readiness

      • Business Value

    • All three have equal weight in the Viima Score

    • Idea responsibles and admins can provide evaluations

    • A text field is also available for feedback on the given evaluations

  • Prototype – Develop a proof of concept or minimal viable model. Focus on testing assumptions, not perfection.

  • Pilot / Deployment – Run real-world tests with limited scope and scale. Collect feedback from users and stakeholders.

  • Scale – Scale successful experiments into production systems or document archived learnings for future reference.

  • Archive

We recommend tailoring the categories to match the specific criteria of your inititiatives and your teams’ unique context.

Ethics and Responsible AI

AI experimentation carries both opportunity and responsibility. To support ethical decision-making, we added these fields to the submission form:

  • Ethical Risk Level (Low / Medium / High)

  • Potential Bias Considerations

  • Compliance Notes

These fields help your team ensure that innovation happens responsibly — you can also add other custom fields to provide more input upon submission.

From Idea to Impact, Responsibly

The AI Use Cases Board empowers your team to move fast — but thoughtfully.
It helps balance innovation with governance, creativity with evidence, and ambition with accountability.

Use it to explore bold ideas, learn from small-scale experiments, and scale what works.
